Newcastle’s dining scene has a bold new contender with the opening of Closed Bar, led by ex-Subo chef Alannah Miceli. The restaurant champions sustainability with a “raw, rotten, and loud” menu that highlights local produce through pickling, fermenting, and curing. The nose-to-tail and root-to-leaf approach ensures that nothing goes to waste, resulting in dishes like the Cured Market Fish with EARP gin infusion and the Basil Sponge is not to be overlooked!

The drinks menu is equally innovative, featuring minimal intervention wines and cocktails like Jazz Hands, crafted using similar techniques to the food.
