Catholic Heath Australia’s Nurse of the Year

The Calvery Mater’s Clinical Nurse Consultant Lyndal Moore has been named as Catholic Health Australia’s 2024 Nurse of the Year. Recognised for her commitment to serving patients with respect and dignity while acknowledging their individual uniqueness. Lyndal has been a nurse for 32 years, with 30 of those years working in the cancer specialty, working closely with the Hunter and Northern NSW Youth Cancer Service.

She said the nomination for the award came as an unexpected yet welcomed surprise. “To find out that I was a finalist, well that was next level,” Lyndal said. “This recognition is incredibly meaningful to not only myself but also to the team I work so closely with. I am so fortunate to work with such exceptional and outstanding nurses.”

General Manager Roz Everingham said the award was a great recognition of Lyndal’s care and compassion.  “Those close to Lyndal describe her as ‘Mary Poppins in scrubs’ because she goes out of her way to connect with her patients as a friend, carer and advocate,” Roz said. “She also has a magical sense of humour that provides so much delight to those around her.
