Unleashing the extraordinary

The Newcastle Show has been captivating locals and visitors alike for over 120 years. For 2025, and with one eye firmly on the future, the show promises an out-of-this-world experience like never before.

President of the Newcastle Show, Peter Evans OAM is passionate about balancing the themes of innovation, history and community for next year’s three-day extravaganza across 28 February to 2 March 2025 .

With audiences expected from around the region, the Newcastle Show will invite visitors to celebrate the area’s proud history and unique blend of city and country life.

“While we want to take the show in a new direction when it comes to innovative technology, we still want to create the fundamental joy of our traditional show that continues to attract huge numbers year after year,” Peter says.

“Alongside our usual agricultural and horticultural events and displays, we will for the first time have a hall of inventions and innovations. A cutting-edge exhibit to showcase a mix of new technology and artistic creations.”

Next year Peter shares that the show will quite literally be going back to the future with a special appearance from the DeLorean time machine, the adapted flying car made famous in the 1985 film Back to the Future starring Michael J Fox.

“Along with the time machine, which will no doubt be a crowd favourite, we are thrilled to present a world-class drone show, the likes of which has never been seen before in the Hunter.”

The drone production, an innovative fusion of artistry and technology, will take over the skies above Newcastle on Friday and Saturday night, alongside the usual much-loved fireworks display.

Sharing the program with the spectacular high-tech production elements, will be a range of immersive experiences the whole family can enjoy.

“We have a very robotic dog from Boston Dynamics booked to make rounds and engage with show visitors and this year for the first time we have our interactive ambassador ‘Astro’ who will tour the show and interact with guests.

“The entertainment program is expanding for 2025 and we’ll have live music all weekend and performances from local dance groups.”

Complementing the weekend’s futuristic elements are the traditional aspects of the show that generations of visitors have always cherished.

“We’ll have all the usual funfair rides, woodchopping, show jumping, stunt motorbikes and Hot Wheels performances, as well as the farm animals and show bags for our younger guests,” Peter says.

“We hope that this year’s blend of tradition and innovation will continue the Newcastle Show’s proud history of unleashing the extraordinary in our region.”
