Vibrant heritage town

Morpeth, NSW, has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. Founded in 1821, it quickly became a vital river port due to its strategic location on the Hunter River.

During the mid-1800s, Morpeth flourished as a commercial hub, with steamships transporting goods and people. It played a crucial role in the region’s development, particularly in agriculture and trade. However, the rise of rail transport in the late 19th century led to the town’s decline as a port.

Today, Morpeth is a vibrant heritage town boasting boutique shops, cozy cafés and galleries, preserving its historic buildings and vibrant past.
